It’s been so hot here, I’ve been indoors for the majority of my day just trying to stay cool. Staying indoors is not without benefits though, I get a little more time in my craft room. (Especially when you consider that I place crafting as a higher priority than laundry and housework. Ha! Ha!) I hope that you are staying safe and comfortable where you are.
I’ve had several friends lose family members recently, so I needed to make a few sympathy cards. These are never fun to make so I look for designs that are easy and elegant.
With that in mind, I reached for my Spellbinders Beautiful Butterflies 3D embossing folder. It’s so lovely and makes the perfect backdrop for a sympathy card.
Here’s today’s card.
To make this A2 sized card I started by inking an A2 sized panel of white card stock (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) using 3 green inks from Stampin’ Up! , Lemon Lime Twist, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive. I graduated the colors top to bottom, lightest to darkest.
Then I embossed the panel using the Spellbinders Beautiful Butterflies 3D Embossing Folder.
Then I added a piece of ribbon to the bottom third of the panel. I used ribbon from Homeford, but Stampin’ Up! used to have the same ribbon in its line. I added the completed panel to the card front.
Next I hot foiled the With Sympathy glimmer plate from Spellbinders Elegant Occasions Sentiment Set using Gold Foil and die cut it and added to the card front.
The final step was to add tiny dots of gold shimmer using Golden Rod Stickles to the flower centers.
I inked and embossed the envelope flap to complete the project.
