Story of Elegance
Happy Friday!
There’s so much to celebrate about everyday, but I love Friday’s because it means that there is craft room time on my agenda. When I’m being intentional and planning properly, I’m crafting on the weekends in preparation for the coming weeks activities.
Have you ever wondered why you do some of the things you do? Last weekend, as I was crafting I was thinking about flowers and wondering why I love them so much. As I was doing all this reflecting I realized there’s a wonderful connection between flowers and paper crafting. The sight of flowers, especially in spring, signals a time of renewal and evokes feelings of joy, hope and gratitude. The natural beauty of flowers inspire. For me, they are the epitome of beauty, grace and elegance.
I think that’s why I turn to them so often when I craft a card. They are elegant. And when I choose a simple design that incorporates them, I create something that is really my mantra when it comes to card crafting – simple and elegant.
Papercrafting is not only a fun and creative activity, but it is also a great way to connect with others. Making and giving handmade cards is a thoughtful and meaningful gesture that shows the recipient that we care. By incorporating flowers into our designs, we can share the joy and beauty of flowers (and each season) with our loved ones and spread positivity and happiness.
Again today, I’m happily sharing flowers and I do so with the Petal Park stamp set and Petal Park Builder punch (and a few other goodies!) 🙂
Here’s what I created:
If you like texture and dimension, you’ll love what this card offers because there is plenty of both.
A Closer Look
Elegance Made Easy
Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.
First, make your cuts:
- Lemon Lolly card stock – 4″ x 5 1/4″ and embossed using the Basics 3D embossing folder
- Basic White card stock – 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)
- Die cuts:
- Use the second largest die from the Nested Essentials die set to cut the elongated hexagon in Basic White card stock
- Use the Happy Birthday dies from the Wanted to Say die set to cut the sentiment using Daffodil Delight for the shadow and Lemon Lolly for the script
- Punches:
- Stamp 3 flower sets each using Daffodil Delight ink onto Basic White and Daffodil Delight card stock, and punch using the Petal Park Builder punch
Adhere the Lemon Lolly panel onto the front of an A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock. (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Thick Basic White card stock in half. Score and the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)
Add the die cut hexagon to the Lemon Lolly panel, and then center the die cut sentiment to the panel using Dimensionals.
Assemble the flower sets by gluing the two largest petals together to create 6 flowers. Add them around the hexagon using Dimensionals.
Embellish with Pearl Basic Jewels as desired.
For the inside, I stamped a flower onto the Basic White panel and added a Pearl Basic Jewel to the flower center.
To complete the project, stamp a flower on the envelope front and flap to coordinate. Since I’m hand-delivering this card, I can add pearls.
Finding Your Creative Elegance
In the end, the beauty of paper crafting lies in its ability to connect us with our own creativity and with others. It’s a chance to slow down, unplug, and create something beautiful and meaningful with our own two hands. So why not give it a try today? You never know where your creativity might take you.
