Story of Elegance
Greetings, my fellow paper crafting enthusiasts, and Happy Friday!
An early Happy Mother’s Day to all!
As you know, cards are a thoughtful way to express your love and appreciation for someone special in your life, and they are appropriate for any occasion. One of my favorite things to make is a birthday card , because every single birthday deserves to be celebrated and they more you get to see, the better. In that way, birthdays are kinda like friends. 🙂
Even though I’m sharing a birthday card, this design would make a lovely Mother’s Day card too!
For today’s card I’m using one of our new colors – Bubble Bath. It’s such a soft pretty color.
I also used the new Darling Details Bundle and the Basics 3D embossing folder for today’s project. The dies in this bundle are absolutely fabulous!
Before I share my creation, I want to share a couple of tidbits about the history of the bubble bath for a fun piece of trivia.
Bathing has been a part of human culture for thousands of years, with evidence of bathhouses dating back to ancient civilizations such as the Greeks and Romans. However, it wasn’t until the 1800s that bubble baths became popular.
In 1837, a British soap maker named Andrew Pears created a transparent soap that became wildly popular. Pears’ soap was unique in that it didn’t leave a soapy residue on the skin like other soaps of the time. In 1917, Pears’ company released a new product called “Pears’ Bubble Bath,” which was a liquid soap that created a frothy layer of bubbles when poured into the bathwater.
The popularity of bubble baths grew in the 20th century, and today they’re a common part of many people’s self-care routines. Bubble bath products now come in a variety of scents, colors, and formulations to suit different skin types and preferences.
As Paul Harvey would say – And now you know the rest of the story!
So back to card crafting, here’s the card I made:
I couldn’t get the color quite right in these photos as I didn’t have good light. The pink really is closer to the color square shown above. Ugh. Note to self: Take photos before 11:30pm.
A Closer Look
Elegance Made Easy
Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.
First, make your cuts:
- Bubble Bath card stock – 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
- Basic White card stock – 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Die cuts:
- Use Bubble Bath card stock and dies from the Darling Details Bundle to die cut the frame and flower.
- Stamp the sentiment in Versa Mark ink onto a scrap of Basic Black card stock and heat emboss in white. Die cut using the new Nested Essentials dies
- Punches:
- None
Add the Bubble Bath card stock panel to an A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock. Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of thick card base in half. Score and the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.
Emboss the Basic White card stock panel using the Basics 3D embossing folder and add to the card front.
Arrange the frame, flower, and sentiment panel onto the card cfront, Add a bow made with Sheer Bubble Batch ribbon to the side of the sentiment panel using Mini Glue Dots. Add Clear Basic Rhinestones if desired.
For the inside, I added a floral die cut and small Rhinestones to coordinate.
To complete the project, add a die cut strip from the Darling Details bundle on the envelope front and flap to coordinate.

Hi Sheryl!
I love the embossed background and the single “elegant” flower diecut. I don’t have Darling Details (yet) but I have a similar flower in Layering Hollyhocks (recently retired) so you’ll be cased! Very pretty card! TFS!
