Story of Elegance

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

In protest of the snow that is here today, I’m sharing a card that I made a few weeks ago and didn’t post because I feel like I need a dose of spring.  I’m thinking perhaps you might like some too.

Today’s card is super simple and overdone already, (I’ve seen tons of similar cards) but I don’t care.  I think it’s pretty so I’m sharing.  🙂

This card features the lovely Light & Air Designer Series Paper (DSP.)  The papers in this collection are so soft and pretty, and best of all it is FREE with a $50 purchase through the end of the month!

Here’s the card I created:

There is a beautiful soft lustre to the frame that I die cut with the Scalloped Contours dies.

I created this look using gilding polish that I purchased from Amazon.  It’s not a new product, but I really like it and it comes in a variety of colors and textures.  If you’d like to check it out, here’s a link to this particular color and finish.  https://amzn.to/3SWaJgJ

Note:  I do earn a small commission if you purchase using my link.  It doesn’t impact anything regarding your purchase, cost, Prime, etc. are unaffected.  If you want to see how to use the product, check out my You Tube live from last week.  (see below)

Elegance Made Easy

Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.

First, make your cuts:

  • Basic White card stock –  4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and 4 x 5 1/4″
  • Die cuts:
    • Use the larger Basic White panel that has been prepared with gilding polish and cut using the largest die in the Scalloped Contours die set.
    • Cut an oval into the center of the polished die cut panel.
    • Use scalloped oval dies to cut the Flight and Airy DSP and a Balmy Blue oval.   Note: The blue in the DSP is Boho Blue so you can use that as well.
  • Punches
    • None

Adhere the die-cut polished panel to the front of  A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock using pieces of Foam Adhesive Sheet.   (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″  piece of Thick card stock in half on the long side.  Score the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″  (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)

Next, layer the DSP oval onto the cardstock and add to the center opening in the panel.

Add a sentiment of your choice and a bow made with Silver & White Sheer Ribbon.

For the inside, add a strip of DSP to the base of the second Basic White panel and adhere to the inside of the card.

Complete the project by add DSP to the envelope flap to coordinate.

Finding Your Creative Elegance

In the end, the beauty of paper crafting lies in its ability to connect us with our own creativity and with others. It’s a chance to slow down, unplug, and create something beautiful and meaningful with our own two hands. So why not give it a try today? You never know where your creativity might take you.
