Fun with the Summertime Collection by Lisa Horton Crafts

There’s something so cheerful about summertime flowers tucked into a pretty little vase — especially when they find their way onto a hand crafted card! This sweet design captures all the happy feelings of summer with soft blue tones, delicate blooms, fresh greenery, and charming details that feel bright and uplifting.

One of the joys of card crafting is how simple elements can come together to create something truly special. A tiny vase filled with layered flowers instantly adds warmth and personality, while soft pastel colors give the card a breezy summertime feel. The scalloped frame and playful script sentiment add just the right finishing touch without overwhelming the design.

Summer-inspired cards are perfect for sending little notes of gratitude, encouragement, or friendship. Whether you’re crafting for a loved one or simply enjoying creative time in your favorite crafty corner, floral cards are always a beautiful reminder that handmade kindness never goes out of season.

So grab your favorite dies, soft inks, and floral embellishments, and let your creativity bloom this summer. Sometimes the simplest flowers create the loveliest cards!

To Create This Card:

  • Use the largest die from the Open Lace Fame and Landscapes die set to cut a scalloped frame. Ink the frame using Cottage Powder Matt Blending Ink.
  • Die cut the vase using Containers and Foilage die set and ink the vase using Hokusai Navy Matt Blending Ink.
  • With the Garden Planter die set cut the flowers and foilage using white card stock. Color the die cuts with Pimpernel Rose, Willow Forest and Jasmine Sage Matt Blending inks.
  • Die cut a scalloped oval using a died from the Oval Mini Compositions die set.
  • Dry emboss the die cut using the Magnolia Stem 3D embossing folder by Lisa Horton Crafts.
  • Arrange the die cuts onto the scalloped frame inked die cut and add to the front of an A2 sided card base using foam tape.
  • For the sentiment, use the So Amazing Sentiments stamp and die set. Stamp the sub-sentiments using Hokusai Navy Matt Blending ink and die cut. Die cut the So sentiment from white card stock and ink with Hokusai Navy ink. Add the sentiment die cuts to the card front.
  • Finish by adding pearl gems flower centers.
