Story of Elegance

Good morning and Happy Friday!  I’m so happy to see Friday come.  It’s been a crazy and emotional week.  I’m so looking forward to the weekend.  Whew!

On occasion I need to make a card that is a little less feminine.  If you’ve followed me you know that I typically use flowers, flowers and more flowers on my projects.   So when I have to make a card to give to a male, I’m totally out of my element.  Yikes!  But the good news is, with Stampin’ Up! there are so many options and making a card without flowers is super easy.  Yay!  (Easy is another of my hallmarks.)

Blue is the order of the day and we have many lovely shades to choose from.  Here’s my color palette for today’s easy masculine card.

And here’s my  card.

Misty Blue Happy Birthday card

I couldn’t get my lighting to cooperate with me today, so there’s a yellow cast to my Whisper White card stock.  Sorry about that.  Contrary to the picture, the actual card is Whisper White.  Here’s a closer look that is a bit nearer to the actual color.

A Closer Look

Here’s how I created this card:

Step 1:   Use the large spatter stamp from the Painted Poppies stamp set to stamp a 3 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Whisper White card stock.  Alternate between Misty Moonlight and Seaside Spray ink to cover one half of the panel.

Step 2: Layer a 2 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Misty Moonlight card stock onto the stamped panel of Misty Moonlight card stock.  Adhere the combined panel to a Thick Whisper White card base, leaving a 1/2″ space from the folded edge of the card.

Step 3: Stamp Happy Birthday sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Misty Moonlight on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.  Use the Tailored Tag punch to create the sentiment panel.

Step 4:  Use the Tailored Tag punch to a piece of Seaside Spray card stock.  Cut the punched piece in half and adhere to the back of the sentiment panel.  Adhere to the card on the Misty Moonlight strip.

Step 5: Adhere 3 Silver Designer Elements to the 1/2″ space on the card base.  (Although these are retired, you can Misty Moonlight Enamel Dots instead.)
