Story of Elegance
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to start planning our trips to the beach, the lake or the in-town aquarium. Today we’re sharing projects inspired by the ocean and sea – we are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
So that you know – – I “thunked” and I tried, and I tried and I “thunked” but I just couldn’t create the beautiful ocean/beachfront scene I imagined in my head and hoped to transfer to a card for today’s post.
Although I failed at my initial plan, I was not deterred completely. Of course not, I AM a Royal after all. 🙂 I decided instead to simply create a card that uses the beautiful colors of tropical waters. Where there is a will there’s a way. (Even if the way changes. ) These are the beautiful Ocean and Sea colors I chose.
And here is the card that I made.
I really like this color combination and looking at them together makes me feel light and airy – ocean breezy. But of course, I have to have a little bling or sparkle somewhere, so I added the beautiful Costal Cabana foil from Blue Foils Specialty Paper to the card stock colors.

Elegance Made Easy
It’s easy to re-create this card. Here’s how.
Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece Basic White card stock and a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Coastal Cabana foil from the Blue Foils Specialty Paper pack.
Next, using the 3 octagon dies from the Beautiful Shapes die set, cut 9 shapes (3 each in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay.)
Create three layered sets of octagon shapes by mixing the colors, add to the Coastal Cabana foil piece and trim the edges with paper snips.
Add the foil panel to the piece of Basic White card stock and add to an A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock.
Use the small double octagon die to cut 3 shapes from Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper and add to the center of the layered octagons on the card base.
For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set and Bermuda Bay ink on Basic White card stock and die cut using a die from the new Stylish Shapes die set.
Reminder: The Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper and the Blue Foils Specialty Paper are only available while supplies last. See below for details.
