Hello and Happy Friday!
I’m continuing to play with some of our new products. My next few posts will be of cards that I created this month for an Inking Royalty group challenge. For this challenge demonstrators and hobbyists are challenged to create and share 1 card a day for 15 days using products from our new January – June Mini catalog or our annual catalog. It’s great fun getting to see the work of fellow crafters, and it helps me be prepared with plenty of cards for my blog. Double bonus!!
There are so many wonderful new products in the new mini-catalog and I hope that some of my creations will inspire you to grab a few of them and creation your own beautiful projects. As the post title shares, I’m used the new Simply Succulents bundle for today’s card. When I first saw this bundle I knew that I definitely wanted to use the beautiful background die. Here’s what I came up with.
Simply Succulents Thinking of You
I love this sentiment. How often do you have that very thought and get busy with the work and activities of the day, never reaching out to the person who crosses your mind? One of the things I’m hoping to get better at this year is reaching out to others. I’m always making cards, but I’ll be making some with this sentiment ahead of time, and be deliberate in sending them to those who I think of and perhaps haven’t spoken with in awhile. Yes, I know that I can just send a text or get on the telephone, but it’s so nice to get happy mail. So with a simple hand-crafted card containing a hand-written note you can really give someone a big hug via snail mail. That makes me happy too. Another double bonus!
A Closer Look
Here’s are steps I used to create this card:
1. Cut a 4 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Basic White card stock and emboss with the Tasteful Textiles 3D embossing folder.
2. Use the large background die from the Potted Succulents die set to cut the background die in Pretty Peacock card stock. I used Adhesive Sheets to die cut the background to make it easy to adhere to the embossed Basic White panel.
3. Add a strip of Petal Pink Metallic Edged ribbon across the middle of the card and adhere the panel to a card base made of Thick Basic White card stock.
4. Color the background randomly using a Blending Brush and Petal Pink ink.
5. Die cut three flowers and use Stampin Blends Markers to color. Add Clear Wink of Stella to each flower.
6. Stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock and die cut the sentiment and background panel. Adhere together and add to the card with Dimensionals.
7. Adhere the flowers to the card with Dimensionals and add Champagne Rhinestones to the center of the two smaller flowers and the ribbon.
Stamp a flower in Pretty Peacock on the envelope front and flap to complete this pretty project!
