Story of Elegance

Hello My Crafty Friends and Welcome to August!

Well guess who forgot to post a card this morning?  Yes, that would be me.  Oops.  And I was so proud of myself for making my card early.  Seems there may be some truth to the old adage – Pride goeth before a fall.  Ugh and chuckles.

Better late than never I say, so here’s the card I made earlier in the week that was supposed to post this morning.

Since I had the Layering Leaves stamp set and the Designer Tag die set on my table, I made a second card.

I think the sentinments in this set are so lovely and the Designer Tag die set is one of my favorites.

Here is the card I created:

I decided to heat emboss the sentiment for a little extra glimmer.

Elegance Made Easy

Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.

First, make your cuts:

  • Silver Foil – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Lemon Lolly card stock – 3 5/8″ x  4 7/8″
  • Basic White card stock –  3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and  4″ x 5/14″
  • Die cuts:
    • Cut the flower from the Designer Tags die set into the corner of the smaller Basis White Panel
    • Cut one butterfly in Silver foil using the Designer Tags die set
  • Punches
    • None

Add the foil panel to the front of an A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock.  (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″  piece of Thick card stock in half on the long side.  Score the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″  (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)

Heat emboss the sentiment using Silver embossing powder onto the smaller Basic White panel beside the flower die cut.

Add a strip of Lemon Lolly Sheer Ribbon above the flower, then adhere to the Lemon Lolly panel, and then onto the card front.

Add the die cut butterfly onto the ribbon.

Finish by adding  Silver Festive Pearls.

For the inside, I stamped heat embossed a flower using Silver embossing powder onto the larger Basic White panel.  (I used a flower from Framed Florets.)

To complete the project, heat emboss the flower onto the envelope front and flap to coordinate.
