Story of Elegance

Hello and Welcome!  Thank you for stopping by.

Even though we’re still in the throes of summer, I’m looking ahead to the upcoming holiday.  Well… at least for my next few card posts.  I posted a few autumn cards last week, and this week I have a couple of winter and Christmas card ideas to share.

I’m continuing to share cards from my Stampin’ Up! team 15 day card challenge.  Today’s card is from Day 5, and as the post title states, I’m showcasing the Poinsettia Petals Bundle along with a few other coordinating products.

Merry Christmas Poinsettia Petal

Here’s how I created this card:

1: Cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Old Olive card stock and adhere to a Thick Very Vanilla card stock  card base.

2:  Cut 4″ x 5  1/4″ piece of Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper.  Cut a 3 3/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.  Adhere the Plush Poinsettia Paper to the Poinsettia Place DSP.  Add a strip of Old Olive Sheer Ribbon on the seam of the two papers.  Adhere to the card panel.

3:   Use the Poinsettia dies to cut the three leaf set in Very Vanilla card stock.  Use an Old Olive Marker to outline the veining and petals.  Die cut the center flower leaf in Old Olive card stock.  Assemble the flower leaves by gluing in the center and adhere to the card.  NOTE: You can stamp the three leaves in Old Olive ink and then die cut and achieve a smoother look for the flower.

4: Stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Cut the sentiment using the Banner Pick a Punch punch tool. Adhere to the card beneath the flower. Add a bow knot on the ribbon strip.

5: Add Beaded Pearls to the center of the Poinsettia.

TIP:  Add a strip of coordinating DSP for a quick decorative touch to the inside of the card.
