Story of Elegance

Happy Tuesday!

It’s Monday evening as I write this post and I have to say it has been a gorgeous day!  Sunny and 72 degrees after several gray days feels like heaven.  I am grateful.

Today’s card is one that you can prepare quickly.  It’s die cuts and a few embellishments and some dry embossing.  Perfect for those times which the crafting time budget is slim.

This project features the Meadow dies that coordinate with the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

Here’s the card I created for today:

There’s lots of texture on this card.

Elegance Made Easy

Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.

First, make your cuts:

  • Basic Black  card stock – 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Basic White card stock – 4″ x 5 1/4″ two pieces
  • Die cuts:
    • Die cut the flowers using the die from the Meadow die set.  I had some left over panels of Basic White card stock that I had covered with Blossom (soft pink) and Heather (light purple) gilding polish that I purchased from Amazon.  You can achieve a similar look with Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia card stock.
    • Stamp the sentiment using a Black ink onto a scrap of Basic White card stock and die cut using the sentiment die.
  • Punches
    • None

Layer the Basic Black panel onto the front of an A2 card base made with Thick White Basic White card stock.  (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″  piece of Thick card stock in half on the long side.  Score the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″  (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)

Use Fresh Freesia ink to lightly blend color onto the center of one of the Basic White panels and emboss using the Basics 3D embossing folder.

Add the die cut florals, sentiment (using Dimensionals) and ribbon to the panel and adhere to the card front.  I used a sentiment from the Circle Sayings stamp set.

Next, add Iridescent Pearls to the flower centers and a butterfly.

For the inside, add a die cut flower to the side of a greeting that has been printed on the second Basic White panel and adhere to the inside of the card.

Complete the project by adding a flower or butterfly to the card front and embossing the envelope flap.
