Story of Elegance

It’s finally Friday – Whew!  It’s been a busy week.  But you get no complaints from me.  Although busy – it was filled with lots of fun, including three surprise birthday deliveries from UPS and FedX, and a Stampin’ Up order coming with supplies for my new Virtual Stamp Club.  Woo hoo!!

Stampin’ Up is so much fun for me.  Recently I added our annual conference which was held virtually this year.  (No shock there, right?) And my team leader hosted a virtual after party.  It was a ton of fun too.  During the after party we all shared cards that we made from a sketch that our leader provided.  Here’s the card I made and the sketch is below it.

A Little Note from a Sketch

As you can see, I took a literal approach to the sketch.  But you don’t have to do so.  I like sketches because they make it easy to get the creative juices flowing, or if you’re short on time as I was when I made this card, you can just use the design as it is shown.

Stampin’ Up! has so many beautiful Designer Series Paper and this sketch was a perfect way to showcase them.  I chose to use one of the papers from the Peony Garden Designers Series Paper set.  This set is one of my favs and I use it a lot.  Don’t you think this paper is gorgeous?

Here’s are steps to create this card:

1: Use the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to emboss a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Whisper White card stock and adhere to a card base made of Thick Whisper White card stock.

2: Cut two pieces of Basic Gray card stock and one piece of DSP 3 7/8″ x 1 5/8″ and adhere to the embossed panel as shown.

3. Use the Layering Ovals dies to die cut an oval in Basic Gray card stock and a smaller oval in Peony Garden DSP.  Adhere the DSP oval to the card stock oval and then to the panel.

4.  Use Basic Gray ink to stamp a sentiment onto a 2 1/2″ x 3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  I used a sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.  Adhere the sentiment panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

5.  Use a glue dot to add a Beaded Pearl embellishment to the sentiment.

6. For the inside of the card: Use Basic Gray ink to stamp a peony from the Prized Peony stamp set on 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Whisper White card stock and adhere to the inside of the card.

I love the way a papered envelope flap pulls the project together!
