Story of Elegance

Welcome and Happy Tuesday!

It’s another beautiful day here in central Ohio and I absolutely love it.  After the brief return of fall weather last week, I’m happy to see the sunshine and warmer temperatures.

I was longing for summer weather, so I pulled out the beautiful new Shaded Summer stamp set to stamp with today.  Well, not really.  I chose this set because it’s new and I love the flowers and the mixed font sentiments in the set.  🙂

As soon as I saw this set in the catalog, I knew that it was for me because I could quickly envision making simple elegant cards with it.  That’s always a draw for me.  Both of my cards this week will feature this stamp set and although I used the same design for both cards, they both have a different look. Birthday card made with Stampin' Up! products

I made this card for my one-day daughter-in-law.  She is a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan, hence the black and gold color choice.  (I’ve learned to forgive her this flaw.)

At first I made the card with the flower stamped in black, and then heat embossed in gold.  I ended up with a blend of both.  Why settle for one when you don’t have to, right?   I put a bit of gold embossing on the flowers and leaves, and the happy and left the rest black.

A Closer Look

Elegance Made Easy

With the right products you can create beautifully detailed cards in a snap.  To create this card,  cut a 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ panel of Gold Foil.  Then cut a panel of Basic White card stock to 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.  Stamp the large flower  and the sentiment on the Basic White panel with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Make sure your stamp pad is juicy. Sprinkle Gold embossing powder on the flowers, leaves and the sentiment where you want it and dry it with the Heat Tool.  Layer the white panel onto the Gold Foil and mount onto a card base made with Thick Basic White card stock.  I chose to mount it with Foam Adhesive Sheets for a little extra dimension.  I made a bow with black cord (retired) and gold Simply Elegant Trim.   Add a bow of your choice to the base of the flower.

To finish the project  stamp the envelope front and flap.  Voila!  Your lovely card is complete!
