Story of Elegance
Happy Friday!
My intent was to post a video instead of a written blog today, however my recording for tody’s card turned into a lessons learned.
I recorded the video beautifully WITH NO SOUND! LOL! I know I could have downloaded and added audio, but all that is new to me, so I just decided to move forward with my traditional blog post. I’ll keep my video and add it to my You Tube Channel eventually.
Perhaps I’ll post a video on Tuesday.
So as the title suggests, today’s card uses the Simply Zinnia Bundle and embossing folder.
Here’s the card I created:
Well today, I pulled out a stamp set and coordinating die set that have been around awhile – Color & Contour stamp set and Scalloped Contours die set. Both of these products are available in the current Stampin’ Up! 2023-2024 Annual Catalog.
This is a great go-to set to keep in your stash – you can create so many cards using it.
Here’s today’s creation:
To add a little extra dimension, I used a small blending brush and Fresh Freesia ink to add a little dimension to the flowers. You could also add a little Old Olive to the leaves, but I didn’t think of that until the card was done. Ugh.
Elegance Made Easy
Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.
First, make your cuts:
- Basic White card stock – 4 1/2″ x 5″ and 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Gorgeous Grape card stock – 4 1/2″ x 5″
- Dies
- Die cut 4 flower buds in Fresh Freesia card stock, and 4 stems in Old Olive card stock and assemble. Ink blend the flowers if desired.
- Punches
- None
Stack the 4 1/2″ x 5 ” panels of Basic White and Gorgeous Grape card stock and cut at an angle so the the edge of the bottom cut is at least 1 and 1/4″.
Take the top cut of the Basic White cut and the bottom of the Gorgeous Grape panel and emboss using the Simply Zinna 3D embossing folder.
Add the top cut of the Gorgeous Grape panel and layer it behind the the White embossed panel to create a small trim. Adhere together and then to the top and front of an A2 card base made with Thick White Basic White card stock. (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Thick card stock in half on the long side. Score the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)
Add the embossed Gorgeous Grape cut to the bottom of the card front. (There should be a gap between the two pieces on the card front.)
Adhere three of the prepared die cut flowers to the card front across the gap on the card.
Stamp the sentiment in Fresh Freesia ink using the Basic White scrap from the trimmed piece. Trim to fit and adhere to the front of the cardl
Finish the card front by adding Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels colored with Blends ( or use pink rhinestones if you have them in your stash as I did.
For the inside of the card, add the remaining die cut flower and trim to fit.
Complete the project by embossing the envelope flap to match.
