Story of Elegance
Hello and Happy Friday!
Today I am crafting with the Timeless Charm bundle again but the great news is that now you can too! Woo hoo!
As I was preparing to write this blog I was wondering about color and the origins of color.
Well of course I quickly answered my own question. Most color orginates from nature and often the names do as well.
The color I’m using today is the Stampin’ Up! color Highland Heather. I did a little research and found out the following about the color heather.
The color “heather” is typically associated with a range of muted, light-to-medium shades of purple, often with a hint of gray or lavender. While the specific origin of the term “heather” in relation to color is not well-documented, it is likely that the name was inspired by the heather plant, which grows abundantly in parts of Europe and North America.
Heather plants (Calluna vulgaris) are low-growing shrubs that are known for their tiny, bell-shaped flowers in various shades of purple, pink, and white. These plants are particularly prevalent in moorlands, heathlands, and other natural habitats, especially in Scotland, where they are an integral part of the landscape. The colors of the heather flowers, with their soft, subtle tones, may have influenced the naming of the color “heather.”
The term “heather” can also be used to describe the intermingling of multiple colors or fibers in fabrics or yarns. In this context, the name may have been adopted due to the blending of different colors resembling the variegated appearance of heather flowers.
So to continue – Here’s today’s card.
Elegance Made Easy
Following are the quick steps to recreate this card.
First, make your cuts:
- Basic White card stock – 4 1/4″ x 5″
- Die cuts:
- Use the Timeless Charm die set to cut 5 double bloom flowers using Basic White card stock.
- Use the Gorgeous Garden die set to cut the leaves background using Basic White card stock.
- Punches:
- None
Add the Gorgeous Garden die cut to the front of an A2 card base made with Thick Basic White card stock. (Note: An A2 card base is made by cutting an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Thick card stock in half on the long side. Score the 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ (half sheet) of card stock at 4 1/4 “.)
Color the five die cut flowers using Stampin’ Blends. I used Dark and Light Highland Heather, Dark and Light Old Olive, and Light Lemon Lolly.
Use Stampin’ Dimensionals and glue to adhere three of he flowers to the card front.
Stamp the sentiment from the Timeless Charm stamp set in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Basic White card stock. Trim to fit and add to the card front.
Add a bow to the base of the flower stem closest to the sentiment, and finish with Iridescent Pearls. I used white craft store ribbon colored with Light Lemon Lolly Blends to make the bow.
For the inside, I printed my sentiment onto the Basic White card stock panel then added a die cut & colored flower to the top.
To complete the project, add the last die cut flower to the card front. Emboss the evelope flat to coordinate.
